Vaping is a transition to a life without tobacco and then without addiction.

What about savoury e-liquids? Perhaps you have already asked yourself this question: why aren't there more savoury e-liquids for e-cigarettes on the market?
Savoury e-liquids are a topic that regularly pops up in comments from vapers.

I remember, a long time ago, a DIY flavour concentrate that tasted like pizza, which had a serious kick of mixed herbs. Let's face it, savoury e-liquids are mostly the subject of April Fools' jokes. However, some might remember the Vaping Truck range, which fully committed to the concept. Its marinated beef flavour was uncanny, and its peanut puff option was a devilish reminder of that addictive snack typically enjoyed by people who have no friends.

But apart from that? Apart from that, there isn't much else to put in your atomiser.
We can happily vape lemon tart all day long without a second thought, but the idea of inhaling fried chicken or mussels in white wine isn't, on the face of it, very appealing... Why is that?

The best-selling e-liquids are fruity flavours, followed by dessert profiles. In between the two, we find fruity-fresh blends, and further down the line are tobacco... dessert mixes.
These flavour families all share one common denominator: sweetness! More accurately, the sensation of a sweet taste. Lest we forget, there is no actual glucose in e-liquids.

It's also worth remembering that sugar—the real kind—plays a role in secreting the pleasure hormone, dopamine. For a vaper, does a fruity or dessert e-liquid reinforce this call for sweetness and satisfy that feeling of pleasure? Isn't it often said that vaping is about quitting cigarettes through enjoyment? We therefore seem to derive more pleasure from sweet notes than from savoury ones, all without the downsides of actual sugar (tooth decay, weight gain, et cetera).

For those who would like to try the savoury liquid experience using DIY flavourings, be very careful: these flavourings are made strictly for food use and under no circumstances for inhalation. "Heritage" manufacturers like Flavour Art or Solubarôme explicitly state this on their products. So, it's bad news for Roquefort or seafood lovers...

On the bright side, we can make up for it with flavours that aren't strictly savoury but are wonderfully exotic. There are excellent carrot cake recipes and Malaysian avocado-based desserts (as avocado is eaten as a dessert in Malaysia). Cucumber has become a staple in fruity, icy ranges. And let's not forget the surprising Old School Boy by The Fuu, a blonde tobacco profile with red bell pepper notes. Pure perfection!
