The principal mistakes by beginners and how to avoid them.

It is important to ask the right questions when starting with an electronic cigarette. A wrong choice can make you dislike it, get bored with it, or worse, make you fall back into smoking! Many former vapers have given up vaping due to bad advice. To prevent this, our website is full of information, and our team is here to help you, whether remotely or in our various stores.

Let's take a look at the common mistakes to avoid and how to correct them.

Choosing the right level of nicotine

It is important to choose the right amount of nicotine based on your tobacco consumption level. This is the first thing to consider, without overestimating or underestimating yourself. We often see beginners choosing a nicotine level that is too high, which can lead to headaches, dizziness, and nausea.

On the other hand, a nicotine level that is too low or at 0 mg will not help you quit smoking, as nicotine is one of the essential factors for transitioning from regular cigarettes. Some doctors even prescribe patches in addition to vaping for heavy smokers, with France limiting the nicotine content to 20 mg/ml.

Lastly, trying to lower your nicotine level at all costs is a bad idea. Your body will tell you when the time is right, much like when you occasionally smoked an ultra-light cigarette, which was light in name only and didn't satisfy you at all. Listen to your body, and you will naturally lower your nicotine level without thinking too much about it.

You can take our test to determine the right level of nicotine for you.

Choosing the right type of material

The choice of setup is important for a first-time vaper. We offer a multitude of kits, pods, or puffs according to your usage and habits. For example, a puff may be used very occasionally, whereas a kit is designed to last and provide you with much better performance.

You can opt for a box and a separate atomiser, but they must be compatible with each other. That is why we have our configurator to help guide you in your choices, or our online customer support, where all our experts are ready to assist you in your journey.

Do not hesitate to use our configurator.

Avoid vaping in excessively high watts

Each coil has its minimum and maximum wattage clearly indicated on it and on our product specifications. It's crucial to adhere to these limits and not overheat the coil. This will prevent it from deteriorating too quickly and experiencing dry hits, will give an unpleasant burnt taste in the throat.

On the other hand, too low wattage may result in very little vapour production and a weak hit, which could discourage you from using the electronic cigarette and make you want to switch back to tobacco.

To make things easier for you at the beginning, some vape devices have a "Smart" function that automatically adjusts the wattage based on the inserted coil. This will be of great help, and you can later adjust it according to your preferences.

Another point to consider is always "priming" your coil. This means putting a drop of e-liquid on each opening on the side of the coil. By doing this, you will saturate the cotton and prevent any dry hits, as well as avoid waiting for long minutes before vaping.

It is also important to regularly change your coil, every 2 to 4 weeks depending on your frequency of use and the VG content in your e-liquids. This also depends on the quality and brand of the coil.

Signs indicating that it's time to change the coil include a decrease in vapour production, a burnt taste in the mouth, and an overall inferior vaping performance. It's essential to follow the manufacturer's instructions to maximise the coil's lifespan.

Avoid over-vaping

In the beginning, beginners tend to continuously vape to satisfy their nicotine cravings and avoid going back to tobacco. This may be due to a too low nicotine level, as mentioned earlier, or to withdrawal anxiety. This habit can lead to headaches, dry mouth, and fatigue.

To address this, you can try taking vaping breaks, just like you did with cigarettes, especially when working from home. Also, reconsider your nicotine level and drink plenty of water, which is essential in the beginning as PG (propylene glycol) can dry the throat.

Maintaining your electronic cigarette

Finally, it is crucial to maintain your vaping equipment by checking the battery life of your batteries, their condition, regularly cleaning your tank with water and soap, and doing the same for the removable drip tip.

Most importantly, as we've mentioned earlier, regularly change your coil.
