Fumytech, one of the pioneers of the vaping industry, known for quality products such as the EZipe, the Navigator BX and the Cyclon VT RDA, is back this time with a rather original atomiser: the Dragon Ball!
The Dragon Ball arrives in a fairly sturdy cardboard box, complete with a spare pyrex glass tank, a bag of spares containing a few replacement seals and screws, cotton, and 4 ready-to-use Nichrome coils. With a total height of 52mm (drip tip included) and a 24mm diameter at its base, the Dragon Ball is relatively small but no less solid for it! Indeed, the first time I picked it up I found it pretty hefty in terms of weight, giving off an aura of sturdiness that left me confident in just how robust and well-made this atomiser is. That said, do be careful not to drop it, given how exposed the pyrex glass is!

The Dragon Ball is made up of 6 fully removable parts, making maintenance nice and easy. The "Velocity" style build deck comfortably accommodates even the thickest wire and allows for both single and dual coil builds. The Dragon Ball offers excellent staying power thanks to its 5ml capacity, and will also handle any PG/VG ratio you throw at it, thanks to four juice ports fitted with "Juice Control".
In terms of design, the Dragon Ball stands out with its original, distinctive spherical shape. Echoing the look of a "Dragon Ball", this atomiser is bound to bring back fond memories of the anime of the same name, which still leaves its mark on so many of us. Alongside the airflow, you'll find two printed designs: one stamped "Dragon Ball" and the other depicting the sacred dragon "Shenron". The pyrex glass proudly displays 4 stars, representing "Su Shinchu" (the four-star ball) – the very ball so dear to "Son Goku". The top cap, meanwhile, is decorated with Etruscan-style patterns. A genuinely beautiful atomiser, and one I'm rather fond of.
With the Dragon Ball, Fumytech leaves the choice up to you! Indeed, the standout feature of this rebuildable is the ability to switch between dripper and tank atomiser. Simply rotate the base to close off the juice ports and the Dragon Ball becomes a dripper. Filling is done from the top of the atomiser, with two filling options available depending on how you're using it.
Thanks to the huge dual airflow, with the entire lower base dedicated to airflow, the Dragon Ball delivers truly impressive vapour production! I first built it with a single 0.80 ohm Clapton coil, and tried out a "calm" vape with the airflow set to minimum. The vape here was fairly pleasant, with good flavour, fairly classic vapour production and a decent hit. But the Dragon Ball is, without a doubt, far better suited to slightly more "extreme" conditions.
Finally, built with a 0.22 ohm dual Nichrome coil, and that's when it really came into its own! Starting at 40W, then 60W, and eventually reaching a maximum of 100W during my test, and "Wow"! The Dragon Ball performs far better here and handles high power beautifully; vapour production gets more and more generous, while the flavour still comes through. On the plus side, after several high-power puffs, the pyrex glass was barely even warm, and the drip tip stayed at a comfortable temperature throughout, avoiding any unpleasant surprises.
Now for the less pleasant bit! Despite the Dragon Ball's outstanding performance, I did run into some leaking during my test. You need to take real care when placing the cotton at the juice ports, to make sure they're properly sealed off. On top of that, you need to make sure you draw in all of the vapour with each puff, otherwise condensation will start to build up around the airflow.
With the Dragon Ball, Fumytech offers up a really lovely, high-performing atomiser that, I have no doubt, will go down well with fans of the manga it's named after. I was particularly struck by just how solid it feels. The "Velocity" style build deck offers excellent space, making builds easier and allowing for very thick wire, so you can get the absolute most out of this beast! Just be warned: if you're after a rebuildable for a calm, low or medium-power vape, this one's not for you! This atomiser is aimed squarely at fans of big clouds and big power.
