Spotlight on the Justfog Q16 FF Kit

04/14/2022  /   The Blog Tests

Q14 kit, Q16, Q16 Pro – Justfog's kits have followed one after another, gradually evolving towards this Q16 FF version. FF stands for "Flavor Focused", a nod to the new FF 1.2Ω coil supplied with the kit. So flavour really takes centre stage here.

Because Justfog's kits are still very much aimed at the "first e-cigarette" market, budget-friendly and simple to use. BUT it's also a kit that's well-suited to nicotine salt and CBD e-liquids. The Q16 FF kit makes a great backup kit for vaping "alternative" e-liquids, or for switching up your style of vaping, moving away from big, heavy vapour towards something calmer and more refined.

Small coil, low consumption, low wattage – the Q16FF kit sticks to its usual remit. Where you'll find something new is, first and foremost, the design. The little box continues its gentle evolution towards rounder lines, along with more refined finishes, such as anodised aluminium. More expensive to manufacture, sure, but it still makes a real impression. Justfog clearly also wants to give us a good-looking e-cigarette!

The switch has also been redesigned, now sized to suit your thumb. Gone is the long trigger-style button from the Q16 Pro kit.

On the clearomiser side, the most notable change is the filling system, which does away with the screw-off top-cap. No bad thing either, since let's face it, what are you supposed to do with a bulky top-cap covered in e-liquid every time you fill up? With the Q16FF clearomiser, a rotating ring system has been adopted instead.

Simply turn this ring, found at the top of the tank, to reveal a thin slot in the middle of the red silicone seal. As for the rest, it's business as usual with the Justfog fundamentals: a 1.9ml capacity and a long, slim drip-tip, still designed for a more subtle, refined flavour rendering, naturally.

As for the FF coil, at 1.2Ω, the design has been completely overhauled compared with the old Q16 coils, with larger juice channels. It's worth noting that the Q16 FF remains compatible with coils from the rest of the Q16 range.

And this little coil really is a strong point! The flavours are excellent and the hit is well and truly there. The airflow does its job nicely, delivering a tight, even very tight draw – proper pure MTL vaping.

9, 11 and 13 watts are the power settings offered by the box, controlled via the single adjustment button right at the bottom. The box's tiny size is genuinely surprising, especially given that it still houses a 900mAh battery. The box has rounded edges and feels really nice in the hand. The kit is wonderfully compact, discreet and easy to carry around. That's another of its real strengths.

There's always a bit of a sense of déjà vu with each new Q16 kit, but beginners won't give that a second thought, while seasoned Justfog users will appreciate just how far this e-cig has come. A rounder, softer design overall, plus an excellent new coil for flavour. The new filling system is also a welcome touch. As for the rest, why change a winning formula, as they say.
