It happened because we screwed our atomiser all the way down onto its mod; the result: it is absolutely, mega stuck. Stressful! And it’s not the first time this has happened to us. Various methods exist to get out of this tight spot, much to our relief.

A well-known method is thermal shock using a freezer. The contacting metals (which are jammed) return to their normal shape after about thirty minutes in the cold of a freezer. You can then unscrew the freezing cold e-cigarette by hand—careful, it's chilly! Disadvantages: you need a freezer nearby, and there's the waiting time.

Another more radical but risky method: using one or more tools. That is to say, anything that will help twist the atomiser off its mod. Obviously, you risk damaging your atomiser, your mod, and the connection thread if you go about it the wrong way. A tried-and-tested method that doesn't cause too much damage (though it's not completely risk-free) is using a vape band paired with slip-joint pliers. A vape band is ideal because it's a common accessory for vapers and provides excellent grip for the pliers while protecting the atomiser's steel. Slip-joint pliers are great since they are a tool easily found in any hardware shop. The DIY enthusiasts among us are bound to have a pair. The advantage of this tool is that it adjusts to fit any diameter.

Even better than a vape band, an excellent elastomer that grips perfectly is a bicycle tyre inner tube! An old inner tube can be cut up to make excellent rubber bands. To take extra precautions, you can protect the tank and other parts with tape. Painters' masking tape (the DIY enthusiasts among us, etc., etc.) is amazing because it doesn't leave any glue residue behind. Now, simply wrap the base of your atomiser with the vape band, hold the mod with one hand, the pliers with the other, and gently apply the necessary twist. You wouldn't want to bend the 510 connection pin as an unwanted bonus.
